YOHUNO’S TENURE EXTENSION IS THE PRESIDENT’S PREROGATIVE” -SECURITY ANALYST

A Security Analyst, Richard Kumadoe, says President Mahama’s decision to re-engage COP Tetteh Yohuno as Inspector General of Police (IGP) for two more years is his sole prerogative.

Mr. Tetteh Yohuno who is set to retire in December from the Ghana Police was granted a two-year post-retirement extension – a move that has been met with a lot of opposition.

Speaking on Aluta Fm’s Anopa Koko show with Agyaba Kweku, Mr. Kumadoe said the re-engagement of COP Tetteh Yohuno was recommended by the Police Council and subsequently granted by the President.

“It is the prerogative of the President to appoint people into all positions during his presidency time or period,” he said.
According to him Yohuno’s leadership will bring continuity and stability to the police force.
“They believe his ability when it comes to security operation and ground investigations and prosecution.
If whoever takes over from Yohuno follows suit, it will help create a formidable police force that can provide public safety assurances at all times and security measures to ensure that they are contributing meaningfully to the national security infrastructure,” he added.
