Counsel for the 2024 NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Kpandai, Lawyer Nii Kpakpo Samoa Addo, has raised serious concerns about the conduct of the District Collation Officer following a court ruling that ordered a rerun of the parliamentary elections in the constituency.
Speaking on Aluta FM’s Anopa Koko with Agyaba Kwaku, Nii Samoa Addo questioned the EC Collation Officer’s decision to unilaterally changed the designated collation centre without informing any stakeholder in that particular elections including the NDC parliamentary candidate.
“Why would a district collation officer change a collation centre without informing anyone or the NDC parliamentary candidate?” he asked, describing the development as highly irregular and unacceptable.
He stressed that if there is any issue to be addressed or anyone to be held responsible for the confusion surrounding the electoral process, it should be the district collation officer.
“If there’s any problem or anyone to blame, then blame the district collation officer. We don’t have any problem with the NPP candidate,” he clarified.
Touching on legal developments, he noted that the filing of a stay of execution by incumbent MP, Matthew Nyindam, does not nullify or halt the court’s directive for a rerun of the elections in Kpandai.
He reaffirmed the NDC’s candidate readiness to fully participate in the fresh election as ordered by the court.
